International placements for place-makers and artists based in the UK

ACCESS PROGRAMMES

About Beam International Placements

Within the framework of the European Union’s Leonardo da Vinci Lifelong Learning Programme, Beam has provided transnational placements for residents in the UK wishing to develop their knowledge and understanding of what is being undertaken in Spain to create more sustainable places, and the role that culture and the arts have to act as a catalyst in this.
Aims of the Programmes:
  • To provide participants with an understanding of the impact the changing environment is having in Southern Europe
  • To exchange information and ideas between built environment colleagues and policy makers from different cultures
  • To explore how the arts within different cultures can inform and effect the development of public spaces and the wider public realm
Key Outputs:
  • Development of professional, personal, intercultural and linguistic skills
  • Increased knowledge of how another European country deals with issues related to policy, sustainability and the arts in the built environment
  • Application of lessons about sustainability and how arts can impact on public spaces.
Our programmes have been open to applications from those working in the built environment, be they in the fields of architecture, urban design, planning, surveying, transport, civil engineering, arts, culture.....
